A Dominant Display: Rangers' Cup Run Continues
In a one-sided affair, Rangers cruised into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a resounding 5-0 victory over Annan Athletic at Ibrox. The result was never in doubt as Bojan Miovski's hat-trick and a strong showing from Danny Röhl's squad ensured a comfortable progression.
But here's where it gets interesting... Miovski, the North Macedonia international, showcased his prowess with a brace in the first half, creating space and firing a powerful shot beyond the keeper. He then headed home a cross to double his tally. Academy graduate Findlay Curtis, linked with a loan move, was a standout, constantly threatening and now cup-tied should he move to another Scottish club.
And this is the part most people miss... The Light Blues' third goal, scored by Kieran Dowell, was a beauty, a looping header from Joe Rothwell's cross. Miovski completed his hat-trick from the spot, and substitute Thelo Aasgaard added a fifth with a stunning free-kick.
The game also saw the debuts of new signings Tochi Chukwuani and Zebedee Lawson, with Chukwuani joining from Sturm Graz for a substantial fee.
A Double in Sight?
Rangers boss Danny Röhl, in his post-match press conference, expressed his ambition: "We're aiming for two titles. The cup presents a great opportunity with fewer wins needed to reach the final. The hunger and belief in the dressing room are palpable, as seen in our recent win over Aberdeen. We're working hard to maintain this momentum and keep the confidence high."
